I put up a few photos taken at a show I attended last night featuring The Mollies, a lovely local band. They rock my socks. Unfortunately I didn't get any good pictures of one of the band members, Niles, so I feel bad... sad.

1. New avatar... no longer a picture of me. Hooray for color!

2. I just got all of my books for school, and I am so thrilled for this semester! Forensic and Clinic psych are going to be very good classes. Deviance and Social Control will be a little difficult, but the professor is interesting when he shows up... and Forensic Science is, well, science.

3. With the bit I had left over... I splurged. nighty's Nostalgia and nyctopterus' Sunken Battleship are now mine... I could just die. Eee!

So today as I logged on to deviantArt, I noticed that I had more messages than new deviations. 'That's odd,' I thought. 'Maybe someone favorited like everything I have. Woo hoo!' Much to my chagrin, however, I saw that in fact most of those messages were journal entries. Now I don't know why this is bothering me so much: people can write some pretty fun things in said journals. But when I consistently have as many journal entries as pieces of art come into my inbox on an art website, it bothers me. That is all.

So, yesterday the family moved me into my new room. It's a little small, but it is working out pretty nicely, and the view is of a tree and a volleyball court. Morgause, my bamboo, is very happy and I think my various posters and such are actually going to stick to my wall pretty well.

Wow, that was mundane!

So, tomorrow classes begin, and I hope to steal a few minutes in between to take pictures on-campus. The weather has been lovely, and I am looking forward to a good first week... for the first time ever! Best we not jinx it, so here I bid my friends a fond farewell for the day.

Hooray! After watching so many people leave for vacation and come back with great shots, I'm finally going to go myself. My church young single adults group is going to Palmyra, New York for the pageant there, and to visit some historical sites and whatnot. I'm so stoked!!

I wonder if they allow tripods at the pageant so I can get something there... hmm... Anyway, hopefully this will give me a boost of photographic energy.

Also, my mom has given me permission to borrow her old 35mm SLR. It has three lenses; one which I don't know how to use, one telephoto and one wide-angle. It's not going to Palmyra because if I break it I will be flayed, but some time after that, hopefully when the weather is better I'm going to go out and give it a whirl. Burn through a couple of rolls of film and learn the craft more intimately, so to speak.

Plus with the ueber telephoto lens, I can take pictures of people without them noticing it. Woo!

So, I'm writing my Family Home Evening lesson which I'll be giving in two weeks, I think... well as long as it isn't tonight it's all good. This is a complicated lesson plan, and pretty lengthy for FHE but I'm hoping it will go over well.

We're going to play 'Skits in a Bag,' where each group is assigned its own room with props (usually supposed to come 'in a bag' but most of them are too big) and a topic and then half an hour later everyone gets together to perform them. It's ridiculously fun, one of my favorite activities ever. I hope it's someone else's too, 'cause this group could use some help!
